OK, I haven't updated in a while. Sorry, but I've been spending a lot of time reading recently. And planning two new fics, as well as choosing which ones to give up on (because, you know, I still have over eighty fics to write, even though I've completely ditched the idea of the Of Stars AU sequence).
So, I've also finished work experience, as well as my week-long course at Marshalls Aerospace, which was kind of a nightmare at first - there were eleven of us there, in a 10:1 ratio of boys to girls. Lucky me, especially considering that no one really talked to me for the first two days (except Martin, but that was just to ask me if I had any interesting, single friends, and he also asked me at one point to rate his looks out of ten - I said minus infinity, just for the sake of it). On the third day we went to Duxford Imperial War Muesum, and there I talked to two of the boys and became quasi-friends with them (Bart and Luke), and on the last day I was put in a team with Sam and Sam, and we each won a Marshalls mug for our working model of a retractable aeroplane wheel.
Also, I finished HBP in about six hours. I didn't like H/G, but I guess I kind of had a feeling that they'd end up together (even if they did break up. YAY!) - the only realistic ships that I was hoping for were Harry/Luna, Harry/Susan Bones or Harry/Pansy. It also kind of annoyed me that Ron and Hermione still haven't got together, but I suppose that'll happen in the next book. Also, mouning slightly for the confirmation that Sirius/Remus will never be canon *weeps*. I did like the portrayal of Bill/Fleur, though.
You know that description of Rufus Scrimgeour that JKR published on the web ages ago: what was that all about? I thought she said it was supposed to be a description of the Half-Blood Prince - Snape, though? Weird, huh? And while we're on the topic of Snape - always have hated him. Always hoped that he would turn out to be a traitor. Woopee. Wish he'd proved it in a different way, though.
Absolutely loved the pensieve scenes in Harry's lessons with Dumbledore - am strangely curious now about reading fanfic about the Gaunt family, and about HBP-accurate child!Voldemort (especially pre-Hogwarts, like what happened in the cave, and the story about the rabbit). Also, magical folk can turn themselves into squibs through grief?!?! How cool is that!
Harry leaving Hogwarts is slightly fanfic-esque. I'm not complaining, though, as it means we'll probably be seeing a lot more Trio v. Death Eaters in the next book (yay!). Will most definately miss Luna in book seven, unless Hogwarts closes and she decides to go with Harry, Ron and Hermione.
As I said before, I am planning to write two new fanfics, both in the Princess Diaries fandom (one in book-canon, and one as a strange mixture of book- and movie-canon). Both are untitled as of yet, but one's about Mia growing up with Grandmere in Genovia, and the traumatic effect that it has on her when she returns to AEHS when she's fifteen. The other is about Mia and Michael getting back together after Nicholas and Mia are thoroughly over.
I'g going to start babysitting next tuesday. Wish me luck - I don't know much about six-year-old boys, but according to his half-sister (my stepcousin, Eli), Daniel and I have a lot of common interests, such as Pokémon.

I didn't really think Harry leaving hogwarts reminiscent of fanfiction. Unexpected, yes, but not too usual in fandom. It just seems so weird, him not returning for school, you know?
Despite never liking Snape, I somehow like him in HBP? Why is this? No idea. It's. just. he seemed so broken up at the end, you know? So furious at himself, pained at being called a coward for killing his most important person(?), and yet he wouldn't hurt Harry and even gave Harry advice. Him. To the lengths he would go!
He really has such an extreme character. So Tragic. *evil laugh* It's great, and even better now that everyone hates him. THE HATE. *more evil*
I just want to forget about the shipping. Meh. I tried to be all unbiased while reading HBP, having no idea what would happen, but the way the H/G turned out just put me off. There was no build up whatsover. The only time I had hope was right after (during?) Slughorn's first class when Harry smells 'something flowery that he might have smelled at the Burrow' out of the Amortentia. Of course it was soon clashed by the scaley, terrible monster. Ugh.
complaincomplainMy favorite canon ship by far is Bill/Fleur, which I just unexpectedly ♥, though there is so much H/D subtext you could hit it with a rock.Harry/Luna has died and I am now sad. Woe. But wasn't Luna just lovely in here? She is so lovely. Oh. ♥

The thing about squibs was said by Dumbledore, when he was telling Harry about what happened to Voldemort's mum after Riddle Sr. left her. He said something along the lines of, "She may have just stopped using magic because that was what had lost her her husband, or she may have become a squib through her grief."
I am still rooting for H/L, or at least, Lone Hero!Harry. Because Ginny's not good enough for him, and I think it's been proven now that he's not gay (pity, that).
And, yes, Luna was lovely.
Also, v. v. glad that people will (hopefully, though probably not) stop trying to redeem Draco. He gets on my nerves almost as much as Snape does.

PS. Have you seen the fandom recently? People are still trying to make out like Snape's on Dumbledore's side!!
