Okay, so it's been yonks since I posted here, but I come with peace offerings of music, to anyone who's interested. And once again, Doctor Who is genius~!!! XD I watched with sister_stick this week ('cause she'd come over for tea after work, and ended up staying 'til supper time), and it's really, really great to have someone to exclaim over how wonderful David Tennant is, & the fact that it's Pompeii!

Donna is great~ she asks all the random geeky questions fandom's been guessing about since DW started up (talking in Latin under the influence of TARDIS-translation!!!). I don't know how many people on my flist recognised the Cambridge Latin Course parts, as well (or if Caecilius, Metella & Quintus were in any of the other Latin courses), but it was so weird to giggle over it with Bryony, & then think that people who watch it in other countries might not get those references~ :S.

I was convinced at one point that only Quintus would survive, & especially when Donna said "save at least one", 'cause all the others died in the CLC storyline (& Evelena wasn't even mentioned), but their all surviving made me very happy (as did the household-gods scene at the end XD )~!!!

... And then I proceeded to watch the last 4 episodes of Torchwood, which made me cry. Because!! Why did they have to kill off Tosh & Owen?! Why do my favourite characters always die?!?!?!? (&, I mean, I know Owen was kind of dead already, but he wasn't gone) D':. So, I loved the flashbacks - Ianto's entry to Torchwood was totally not what I was expecting. As was Tosh's. And Owen's, actually. It's a shame they couldn't've shown Suzie's recruitment, as well, but I don't suppose there'd've been a way to make it at all relevant to the plot.

Jack/Ianto is once again growing on me (but Tosh/Owen & Tosh/Mary are still my favourite pairings), despite my having gone off it for a while. But so is Jack/John, which makes things a little more complicated. Gray broke my heart completely - cute little kids aren't supposed to grow up to try to kill their brothers, and he was really, really cute - though I suppose I can comprehend the situation somewhat. But Jack was so reasonable about it. And this:~

Okay, so I'm currently on a break from Super Mario Galaxy, where I'm struggling to get through the Sweet Sweet Galaxy, and keep falling into black holes right before I get to the star (tch, annoying), but I thought maybe if I give my fingers a rest, then I'll do better next time I try~ so it's paused at the moment.

I ordered 3 new games from amazon yesterday, & hopefully they'll arrive soon. I'm especially excited about playing the wii version of Twilight Princess, despite my current fixation with Final Fantasy (& there're 3 DS games in the series, so I'm not completely bereft of the series without a playstation~! XD). The other games I ordered are Bully and Zack & Wiki, both of which look really interesting. I debated getting Link's Crossbow Training, as well (with a wii zapper!), but I figured I'd pass on that for now, since it was only shipping from Germany & the postage would've been pretty expensive )':. & I also got a CD to give to Rhys for his birthday (& here's hoping he hasn't already got it. And that it'll arrive before I have to go back to uni).

I've been meeting with sister_stick on Saturdays, during her lunch-break, which has been fun - god, we had a lot to catch up on - & we might go to starbucks next Saturday, just because. She's back at school now (& preparing for A-Levels *shudders*), so good luck, Bry~! (Just in case our plans for Saturday fall through.)

Haha~ I really need to post a new challenge at digi_icontest, which has been pretty much floundering since last term. And maybe get behemoth_stills up & running again, despite the lack of apparent interest in it ~~which makes me sad~~. Maybe things'll go better if I just use one theme each week, & limit the icon maximum to 2 instead of 3. & I guess I could advertise the re-opening at air_treck, though I'd have to check if that's allowed... I don't know. Any suggestions?

& I've almost finished writing The Chosen (that Tortall-Alex/Alanna-AU I was writing yonks ago, if anyone remembers it), which makes me want to cry, just a little. It feels a bit like losing an old friend. )':

Okay, so 4x01 was amazing, & the alien-baby-fat-things were surprisingly cute (I think it was the teeth), though I didn't like Foster much~

& there was me, bouncing in my seat through the whole of the first half, wondering when Donna & the Doctor were going to meet up, 'cause they kept just missing each other (& can you tell that I found it all very frustrating?)!!! But Donna was as brilliant as she was in The Christmas Invasion, & I am completely in love with her grandpa.

Totally wasn't expecting the ending, because it was Rose! Already! I figured she wouldn't come in 'til later in the series, but YAY! *Collapses into a puddle of Doctor/Rose goo* XD A part of me can't help wondering, though; if Rose walked away, then what happens to the car?

Japan, part 1

Okay, so here is the long-promised photopost from Japan (part 1), which took me way too long to finish.

Day 0: Well, I arrived. There was some really annoying hassle at the airport (in Osaka), because I hadn't filled out my immigration form properly, because I didn't know Yutaka's address or phone number, and that lasted for about half an hour, but was sorted out eventually, so I met up with Yutaka and his wife and we took a taxi back to their house.

After arriving, I met Yasuyo & Eimi (Yasuyo was as nice as her emails had led me to believe, & Eimi was really nice too, despite not speaking any English), and they gave me a poster, which I think was really sweet of them, & I took a photo of it (both sides)-

I call this "day 0", because nothing else actually happened. I basically just met the family, ate supper, and then went to sleep, because I was really, really tired. I slept in Yasuyo's room, while Yasuyo shared Eimi's room, which was a little embarrassing.

Day 1: Woke up before 6 in order to get ready to go to the Komike (a massive doujinshi market) with Eimi & Yasuyo, & one of Yasuyo's school friends called Mina (who was also really, really nice). We got there at 9.30, & had to wait in queue for another 2 hours, because, yes, it was that crowded. And most of the people there were girls, as well. In total, there were 9 massive rooms, each with about 100 stalls. They seemed to be organised by series, for the most part (and there were loads of Code Geass stands).

Sadly, we weren't allowed to take pictures inside the actual Komike, but I bought several doujin (as well as a cat hood which only reminded me in retrospect of Kankurou's ninja-outfit), & took photos of them all-

Day 2: No photos, because there wasn't much to take pictures of. Yutaka was in Kyoto, & Eimi was at school (I think), so Yasuyo & Masayo showed me some places in Kobe. We went to the supermarket, & a couple of clothes shops, & we also rented some anime at a place called Tsutaya (Freedom, 12th Kingdom, & the Rose of Versailles).

Day 3: Yutaka took me to Kyoto! The first thing we did was visit an old traditional Japanese house that'd been turned into a museum of sorts, and had a tea-shop downstairs.

Afterwards, we went to a little Buddhist temple, the name of which I can't remember (if I was ever told at all). Yutaka told me about some of the rituals there, like having to throw some coins into a box, & ring a bell before praying; if you touch the head of the bull statue, it makes you cleverer, as does washing your hands in the fountain water. I also had my fortune told by a strange lioness-puppet in a box, & when I showed the fortune to Yasuyo, she told me that it was the best one that you could get from the machine-

And then we had to go to a camera shop, to get a new memory card for my camera, & we also had to eat lunch (a type of fried rice that I had to pick the meat out of. Vegetarianism seems to be pretty much unheard-of in Japan). Lastly, we went to another Buddhist temple (though this one was much, much bigger) called Kiyomizu-ji, which apparently means "clear water temple". Kiyomizu was really, really beautiful, & there were lots and lots of people washing their hands in fountains all over the grounds. I even saw a geisha(!) at one point, & took a photo of her-

On the way back to the main city, I bought these two fans-

Yutaka also bought me a slushie, which was very much appreciated after the incredible heat of the afternoon. & then we went back to Kobe (& slept. As if I ever do anything else with my free time~ ;P).

I already edited in the answers here, but I should probably say a little about it, so...

1. Air Gear
xerox_kitty & xenylamine both got this first try. It was kind of obvious, really.
Character: Bandou ~ The first time I saw him was when I was yanking pages from mangarun.com, & I hadn't been reading the conversation at all for about 3 volumes worth of material. I thought he was Gaara, & my obsessive love for him developed from there. Though I have no idea why he & Sano are the only Behemoth members who I refer to by their last name.
Pairing: Kazu/Emily ~ Everybody loves Kazu/Emily. Ask anyone at all in the fandom. They are just too cute for words.

2. Naruto
Character: Kimimaro ~ I think his character had a lot of potential, & it was sad when he died. He was given more depth in the anime (with the cages & the coup) but I'd like to've seen more of him in the manga as well.
Pairing: Gaara/Naruto ~ Gaara so totally beats out Sasuke as Naruto's Mr. Right. & while Sasuke is off trying to kill his brother (& threatening to kill Naruto, too), Gaara is trying to become a Better Man after getting beaten into the ground by Naruto.

3. Digimon Adventure
Character: Hikari ~ She was cute in season 1, & so was Tailmon. And then she was back in season 2, & still cute but this time a little older. *Hugs*
Pairing: Takeru/Hikari ~ Is it okay to admit that I was shipping them in season 1 as well? Even though they were eight? Takari is almost as sweet as Kazu/Emily, & that's saying a lot. Daisuke definitely doesn't approve, though ;P

4. Digimon Frontier
Character: Kouichi ~ The whole good twin-bad (long-lost) twin thing is really old, I know, but Kouichi's not so bad really. & he switches sides in the end, and then dies to save his brother. But I loved him even when he was almost-evil (which is strange, 'cause I hardly ever like the evil characters).
Pairing: Kouichi/Takuya ~ Well "he's the one" really cinched it for me, but mostly it's just because I'm rather shallow, & they're cute together (plus, I like Kouichi better than Kouji).

5. Code Geass
Character: Suzaku ~ He is totally In Denial about the reasoning for everything he's ever done in his whole entire life. And he still manages to be really, really nice. & the thing with the cat! *Fangirls*
Pairing: Suzaku/Lelouch ~ Suzaku is the only person who Lelouch will actually admit that he never intended to use the geass on in his grand scheme to kill the Emperor & find out who killed his mum. Now, isn't that sweet?

6. Torchwood
Character: Mary ~ She was just too awesome for words when she first appeared. And then Jack killed her. Damn him.
Pairing: Tosh/Mary ~ Canon femmeslash? Even though I like hardly any femmeslash pairings? But they are both so awsome, & as Gwen said, "love suited [Tosh]".

7. Doctor Who
Character: Jack ~ He's more awesome in DW than in Torchwood, methinks. Especially with the Ann-droid on the Gamestation.
Pairing: Jack/Doctor/Rose ~ I don't know. They just don't seem to fit any other way. And I like Martha well enough, but she's just... not Rose.

8. Harry Potter
Character: Regulus ~ RAB! I so wish that JKR had decided to reveal that he was actually still alive in book 7, but apparently not. Poor Reg.
Pairing: Harry/Blaise ~ At first it was more like a... complications-free version of Draco/Harry (which I have never really liked, so don't ask me how that figures), but the more I got into it, the more Blaise began to develop his own character, & I got hooked. Plus, potent_serpent is a lovely place to hang out~ ^^

9. The Dark is Rising
Character: Bran ~ It was the whole Welsh-albino-&-son-of-King-Arthur thing that got me. And Cafall.
Pairing: Will/Bran ~ They are In Love; I am convinced of it. See? I even wrote an essay on the subject.

10. Bleach
Character: Ulquiorra ~ He was kickarse when he first appeared, & remained kickarse throughout.
Pairing: Ichigo/Tatsuki ~ Did anyone else notice that they both wear badges with three stars on them? Just those two, even though Tatsuki's a pretty minor character (thus far). & those dojo scenes were the cutest part of the entire series, imho.

Do you have any kinds of allergies? What are they?
No serious ones, but I get all swollen up when I get stung by bees, and I used to get eczema whenever I used soap (but that's mostly stopped now).

Do you have any pets? If not, what kind of pet would you want?
I used to have two rabbits and three guinea pigs (well, I say "I", but I really mean "my family"). My first rabbit was called Twitchit, but he was really, really sick, and died a couple of months after we got him; so then my sister got another rabbit called Mopsy, and I got a guinea pic called Guinea (because I was suffering from a total lack of creativity); the next two were my rabbit Thunder, and my sister's guinea pig Scruffy; and then my mum got a guinea pig, too, called Matty (short for Matilda). But Thunder had a stomach growth, and he died, so I got another rabbit, called Thunderbolt, who was really, really vicious, and enjoyed mauling me whenever I tried to pick him up (pure evil). Mopsy and the guinea pigs all died a couple of years ago (old age), and Thunderbolt managed to get out of his hutch, and never came back. The various assorted baby rabbits and guinea pigs that we had mostly got sold to the pet shop, but some of them went to our friends, and as far as I know, only two of them have died thus far (probably dead, in any case; they both ran away). And here ends the sad tale of my pet-owning history. I miss Thunder and Guinea the most (Guinea peed on my uncle once~ it was most amusing watching him walk around in a makeshift blanket-skirt for the rest of the day).

Who is your favorite celebrity, and why? If you had the chance to sleep with them, would you? Why or why not?
Anna Paquin (she played Rogue in X-Men, and she was also in Fly Away Home and the BBC version of Jane Eyre), because she is teh awesome. But I'm not actually attracted to her (despite still being kind of confused about my sexuality), so I doubt I'd sleep with her unless I was really, really drunk (which doesn't happen often).

Umm... there aren't really any that I particularly like. Fanon made me love this pairing (and potent_serpent is FTW).

I haven't, really. They were there, and beautiful, and Ren and Agito were fighting over Akira, and the artwork was just so gorgeous. But they were canon pretty much from the time Ren was first introduced in the series, and all their backstory just cinched it for me, really. Time-wise... erm... about a year, I guess; ever since I first read AG.

What's the story with #8? What made you stop liking them/caring? (Harry/Ginny)
I can vaguely remember the days when I shipped them, but they just got less and less right for each other as the series went on, and I figured that Harry/Ginny was just the stuff of bad fanfic. & I was right; it was horribly cliche.

Which ship do you prefer - #2 or #4? (Gaara/Naruto or Harry/Luna)
GaaNaru, I guess. But there's not much in it, since I like them both for mostly the same reasons~ because they understand each other so well. What Naruto does for Gaara at the end of the Chuunin Exam arc, as well as in the Rescue Gaara arc just makes it that little bit more... well... just more, I guess.

You have the power to make one ship non-existent. Choose from #10 or #12. (Ikki/Ringo or Harry/Hermione)
Erm... Ikki/Ringo, I guess. I mean, I've liked a couple of H/Hr fics, so I'd like to be able to carry on following those. But I don't really hate Ikki/Ringo; I just really, really hope that it won't happen in canon ('cause Kanon/Ringo and Ikki/Kururu also seem likely to happen, and are much more awesome).

What interests you about #14? (Tosh/Mary)
Mary is just made of win, apart from the whole heart-eating thing she has going on. And I'm sure there're a few things that they could do with that pendant. (And also, they're just really, really cute together. Their scene at the bar was just brilliant ^^).

When did you stop liking #7? (Kiba/Naruto)
I haven't, really. I just got more obsessive about GaaNaru, and stopped bothering with shipping KibaNaru as well. I still think it's a nice ship, but I just don't really go searching for it any more.

Did your waning interest in #9 kill your interest in the series or fandom?
No way in hell. I only got into the Naruto fandom because of the SasuNaru essay I read over at ship_manifesto, which was really, really well-written. I realised the pairing wasn't really for me once I was about halfway through the Chuunin Exam arc, when I first discovered the wonders of KibaNaru. ;D

What's a song that reminds you of #5? (Ikki/Agito)
Either Shine by Take That, or Winds of Change by Kutless. They're both pretty much about the same thing.

Currently? Jack/Doctor/Rose. Usually? It switches pretty consistently between GaaNaru and Harry/Blaise.
