Okay, so I'm currently on a break from Super Mario Galaxy, where I'm struggling to get through the Sweet Sweet Galaxy, and keep falling into black holes right before I get to the star (tch, annoying), but I thought maybe if I give my fingers a rest, then I'll do better next time I try~ so it's paused at the moment.

I ordered 3 new games from amazon yesterday, & hopefully they'll arrive soon. I'm especially excited about playing the wii version of Twilight Princess, despite my current fixation with Final Fantasy (& there're 3 DS games in the series, so I'm not completely bereft of the series without a playstation~! XD). The other games I ordered are Bully and Zack & Wiki, both of which look really interesting. I debated getting Link's Crossbow Training, as well (with a wii zapper!), but I figured I'd pass on that for now, since it was only shipping from Germany & the postage would've been pretty expensive )':. & I also got a CD to give to Rhys for his birthday (& here's hoping he hasn't already got it. And that it'll arrive before I have to go back to uni).

I've been meeting with [info]sister_stick on Saturdays, during her lunch-break, which has been fun - god, we had a lot to catch up on - & we might go to starbucks next Saturday, just because. She's back at school now (& preparing for A-Levels *shudders*), so good luck, Bry~! (Just in case our plans for Saturday fall through.)

Haha~ I really need to post a new challenge at [info]digi_icontest, which has been pretty much floundering since last term. And maybe get [info]behemoth_stills up & running again, despite the lack of apparent interest in it which makes me sad. Maybe things'll go better if I just use one theme each week, & limit the icon maximum to 2 instead of 3. & I guess I could advertise the re-opening at [info]air_treck, though I'd have to check if that's allowed... I don't know. Any suggestions?

& I've almost finished writing The Chosen (that Tortall-Alex/Alanna-AU I was writing yonks ago, if anyone remembers it), which makes me want to cry, just a little. It feels a bit like losing an old friend. )':

Bethan's been kicked out. & now there's a room free in our corridor & Amy's moving in, which means that Anthony gets her old room & everyone's happy. Drama over (for now, at least).

In unrelated news... which of the following icons would you rather see a tutorial for ('cause I'll be able to start up my graphics comm soon, & I want to do something to celebrate~ XD)?

Updating before the urge leaves me.

cut for choir-related babbling )

And also: icontest people on flist? Should I be worrying about the fact that no one's submitted to week 1 at [info]behemoth_stills yet (except me)? I find myself strangely panicky about the fact that I really don't want to have to have an extension on the first week!. *Wails*

I am really craving ice cream right now, but not enough to eat the fig ice cream in the freezer, and I can't be bothered to go out and get something else. Woe is me (*angsts*).

EDIT: [info]sister_stick came over this afternoon. "Date"-thingemyjig is on for Friday.

RL-update

(Though actually, Bry, I told you most of this when you came over).

1. Exams were okay, I guess. There was a nice essay on my Classical Art & Architecture paper, about Kephisodotos and Praxiteles (the latter of whom is my favourite of the sculptors I studied this last year). They other two didn't go so well, but they definitly could have been worse, so I'm hoping that'll be okay. Physics was okay, too~ the Phys4 paper was very, very nice; the Phys5 not so much, but since everyone found that hard, I'm hoping the grade boundaries will be lowered. The synoptic was horrible. End of story. *Crosses fingers for two Bs*

2. Have been entering icontests. And actually winning sometimes. Updated awards post here. (I love [info]airgear_awards so much. Everybody is so nice, and the icons are always gorgeous. I think it's my favourite of all the icontests I participate in, even over [info]digi_icontest, which I am totally biased over, because I run it.)

3. Mum keeps insisting that I've stolen all her socks. I mean, I took a couple of pairs (because I don't have any of my own without holes in them), but not the gazillion that she's accusing me of taking. *Angry tick*

4. Leavers' ball. H~okay. I got ready in Boarding with Alex. She straightened my hair for me, and lent me one of her necklaces and everything, and even bullied me into plucking my eyebrows until I'd at least got rid of the monobrow. I read Kingdom Hearts in the common room while she was changing. My dress came from East (picture of me after I came back here, though I wasn't wearing the necklace then). Most of my friends commented on how nice I looked (HAH! They were in shock from seeing me wearing something other than dirty tracksuit bottoms and a baggy t-shirt). I haven't seen the pictires yet, though. [info]emayo didn't go. I think she was already on the plane to LA by then. I missed her, though.

5. The Trust garden party is barely worth mentioning, though it was nice to see Flo again (I seem to recall hearing somebody ask Mum whether I was Heli - my older sister - and Flo was me, which was mildly amusing, though probably not so much to Flo, because I'm pretty sure she's still a little sensitive about being shorter than most of her friends). [info]sister_stick's end of exams party (straight afterwards) was fun, and especially watching Sheri play twister, deliberately make it as awkward as possible for everyone, and then lose (*sniggers*). Bry is now attempting to set me up with one of her friends from PB, who I've never even met, but apparently he's a manga/anime enthusiast, so she's convinced that we'll get on well. I'll be meeting him on Friday, probably.

6. Am incredibly excited about meeting [info]mara_202 on Thursday! I'm going to try to get a punt, and I'll probably show her around town (and maybe the Fitzwilliam, if she's interested) and all my favourite places (ie. bookshops), too! *Bounces off the walls*

7. Leavers' hoodies still haven't arrived (to my knowledge). D:

8. Last choir service tomorrow. I'm singing in mattins in the morning, and then in evensong in the (duh) evening. There's going to be a "bring-and-share" supper afterwards. Three other people are leaving, too, but I only know one of them (Rosie). It's only been two terms, but it's been really fun. I wish I'd joined the choir earlier.

9. [info]behemoth_stills has 8 members, now! & 11 affliates! & I have a co-mod! I'll be posting the first challenge on Monday, and I'm hoping there'll be at least a decent amount of participation. It's looking like it'll go well, though, so I'm not all that nervous; just a little jittery, because [info]behemoth_stills is a comm I've been wanting to start for a while, but I could never quite work up the nerve to open it. *Is all jittery & excited*

I just came out of my History exam. Bry, console me (and that's an order). Mr. Richards is going to be really, really annoyed ~ I spent way too long on the source-based question, and then I was halfway through the second-to-last paragraph of my essay when the time ran out. And he's always going on about how the conclusion is the most important part of the essay! And I didn't even write one! I predict a D/E grade, since I usually get Cs on the ones I finish. *Woe* Oh well, at least it's just a mock...

RL. Again. (There is obviously something wrong with me)

January 10th, 2007 (12:05 am)
current song: Kate Rusby//You Belong to Me

School was boring ~ Mr. Richards was rather annoyed with me (three guesses as to why), and Mr. Peachey doesn't like the idea of my having to miss three days of school for my interview in Lampter at all. I have about twenty Physics sheets to hand in tomorrow, and I have only done one of them. I also have exams on Friday, and I have yet to start revising. And... that's about it.

...

*Tries to get life back in order* *Fails. Spectacularly*

And now I'm going to pretend I've gone to bed, and actually read copius amounts of manga, which I purchased this afternoon. ((Met Lydia in Borders ~ she was incredibly Unimpressed with my reading choice, and claims that I need to broaden my horizons. She is probably correct, but I am going to ignore her advice anyway. As one does.))

The long awaited RL-update.

January 3rd, 2007 (10:04 pm)
current song: James Morrison//This Boy

*Pokes [info]sister_stick* Since you insisted...

1. New Year was... kind of boring, actually. I messed around on my computer, and briefly removed myself from it to go upstairs to the sitting room with a glass of milk and toast with Mum and Dad at midnight. The were watching The Hours, which I am slightly annoyed about, because I would've liked to've watched it with them, but they never told me. *Pouts*

2. Lookit: Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting ^__^

3. I have resolved to make no resolutions. Ever. (*Deadpans* Haha ~ I crack myself up.)

4. NejiNaruHina is addictive, but there is nowhere near enough of it. I'm writing one at the moment (or trying to), and I want to call it Keishi, which is the best Hinata-word ever, but it doesn't really with the premise of the fic, so... I guess I have to find something else.

5. I made a fic-journal, so as to avoid ficspamming [info]sister_stick any longer. (Appreciate it, Bry.) I will not, however, be moving any of my old fics there, merely because I can't be bothered. It's called [info]nightjar_fics.

6. On a similar note, my dry-up of inspiration to write is officially over. I've signed up for the Unusual Adoption Challenge, and I've already got two drabbles to write as prizes for the [info]potent_serpent Christmas challenge, and there is also the aforementioned NejiNaruHina AU, as well as what I like to call the big-damn-crack!AU-of-DOOM, which [info]twins_randomity has been helping me to plan. (Happyhappyhappy. Things to sink my teeth into.)

7. [info]potent_serpent Christmas challenge! There's less than a week left to go over and guess who wrote each drabble, and whoever gets it right can claim a prize-drabble (which doesn't even have to be HP-related!), so make sure you participate if you haven't already!

8. I am retaking two of my AS-History modules on the Friday after next. I really ought to start revising, but I can't be bothered. I also have an essay to write (again, for History), as well as various things to read before school starts again on the 9th. Bleurgh.

9. I now have money! I intend to spend most of it on manga, but I also got the new James Morrison album (which is awesome).

10. UCAS update: I've been offered a place at Aberystwyth, as long as I get 240 UCAS tariff points (whatever they are), and Aberdeen and Exeter have both written to say that they're considering my application. I've got an interview at Lampeter in February, which is both unexpected and nerve-wracking.

11. My Christmas card from Pat and Marged was in Welsh. *Is bewildered* It took me a while to figure out what it said.

12. Lethargia is annoying. 'Nuff said.

And incidentally, Bry, when I put this through the LJ-spellchecker, one of the alternatives for "Nuff" was "Luff" *giggles*.

The Cold that won't Go Away, and Other Stories (ie. life)

October 17th, 2006 (12:21 pm)
happy, but ill

current mood: happy, but ill
current song: Natalie Merchant//San Andreas Fault

1. Erm... yes. The Cold. I got it on the Wednesday before last, I think, and despite mass consumption of hot chocolate, lemsip, and hot lemon squash with honey (not all at once, though), it has yet to go away. Pretty much my whole year group has it at the moment, or has just got over it. Apparently it lasts for 3 weeks, which'll wreck the majority of half term. Woe.

2. As most of you have probably already noticed, I've been writing a lot recently - this is because I have excessive amounts of free periods at school, and LJ (and google) seem to be the only sites that the school computers will let me use. I have yet, however, to write anything more for [info]fanfic100 - I have a new idea for a sequel to Obsession, but I still can't figure out what I'd put in it.

3. Downloaded a new song, which I am obsessed with - San Andreas Fault, by Natalie Merchant.

4. The History trip to the Globe was awesome! We saw In Extremis (with the matron Mother at the convent saying to Eloise, "The time for f*cking in trees is over." A nun!?! It was hysterical) , and we got the expensive tickets, so we didn't have to watch from the Pit. And we went in the new minibus - I was sitting in the back, and the seats were so high that my feet didn't reach the floor. I spent the journey reading volumes 8 & 9 of Fruits Basket, and once I'd finished them, I listened to my iPod, and didn't manage to find a time to eat until I got home. At about midnight, that is.

5. Open morning was on Saturday - I was assigned to the sixth form study room, to do digital video editing. I had to use the footage from the Boston Marathon (rowing, that is), which was kind of boring. And, of course, it didn't help that I finished editing the video within the first half hour of being there (but I still had to stick around for another 2 1/2 hours). [info]sister_stick came to see me, and I managed to persuade Mr. Peachey to let me go for the last 15 minutes - we went Clare-hunting together, and visited the History department.

6. We've got the Fun Run on Friday (which means we get another half day this week!). The theme for this year is "famous faces", but I'm going to be stamping hands instead of running, because of The Cold. Apparently, I still have to dress up, though - Mum wants me to go as Pitt (the younger), because he's my 5th cousin 7 times removed (and, yes, I calculated that, because we were studying him in British Politics last year). I'm not sure whether I still have to bother with getting sponsored, and all that. I'll ask Mrs. Jackson, though.

7. I won "icon that best fits theme" at [info]gravi_awards!

current mood: okay, I guess

  • Homework I have to do tonight (because I procrastinate way too much):
    • Classics, Art & Architecture; title: "What did the technology of bronze mean for sculptors in Greece?"
    • Classics, the Aeneid; read book 2 & take notes on the imagary Virgil uses to describe warfare.
    • PSCHE; type up second draft of personal statement.
    • Physics; do practice questions on chapter 8 of "Waves and Our Universe".

  • I also have a 'cello lesson after school today. At the moment I'm working on Borodin Quartet no.2, Vivaldi's 6th Sonata, as well as several duets and practice exercises.

  • I didn't go to Games today - I somehow managed to hurt my leg on the way to school, and I'm still feeling a little sick (though it's better than it was last week). Miss Greg says it's better not to go if I'm not feeling well, because for the last few weeks we've been going to the gym, and... yeah, that's about it.

  • I have been obsessively watching previous seasons od Digimon for a while, now - I have a new fanfic idea, too (where the kids of the 01 Digidestined go on a Tsubasa Chronicle-esque adventure to recover the broken pieces of the crests), but I won't be able to do it until I've finished watching seasons 1, 4 and 5 (and season 5 hasn't even finished running, yet). Meh. It'll be called Digimon Seekers, if you wanted to know.

  • Also, I gave in to temptation and read the first four volumes of Fruits Basket yesterday - it's wonderful. My favourite characters so far are Kyo and Momiji, and I'm hoping that Kyo will end up with Tohru. I've also become a big fan of Haru/Yuki and Shigure/Ayame. Teh cuteness (and you may notice that Kyoru is the only het-ship among them. *Grins*).

  • New icon alert (see above)! I made it for my claim at [info]10_lyricons - it's Mikako from Hoshi no Koe (also called Voices of a Distant Star). The anime is really, really beautiful. Remind me to post an overview of it up here at some point.

  • Something really, really wierd is up with what's-his-name from Naruto - Akatsuki no Hidan. The whole skeleton thing from chapter 323, that is. Anyone got any theories (some weird jutsu, d'you think? Or maybe he's just undead - that was the first thing I thought when I saw it. Please ignore me.). And has chapter 324 come out yet?
Okay, I need to get to Physics, so I'm going to have to end it here (it was much longer than I thought it would be, anyway. *Sweatdrops*).

General life update

Tags: , , ,

1. PS challenge is coming along surprsingly well - I'm currently at just under 12000/15000 words, and, of course, it'll all be posted by tomorrow. Harry and Blaise are not behaving as I want them to, and are probably wildly OOC, though. Ah, well... such is life.

2. School started again last week, and so far everything seems to be going fine. I'm carrying on with History, Classics and Physics, but I've dropped Maths (despite the fact that I did reasonably well in the exams). I'll be retaking the History source paper in January, and probably Statistics or Mechanics as well.

3. The only lesson I had this morning was Games, wherein I went to the gym, and spent half an hour on a running machine, and then drank a gallon of water. *Collapses from exhaustion* (Today has so far been rather boring, as I'm sure you can all tell.)

4. I still haven't managed to finish reading Myths & Legends of the Middle Ages, but I'm progressing. Slowly. Currently reading the section on Titurel and the Holy Grail.

5. Current manga:

  • D.N.Angel [@ vol.7]
  • Gravitation [@ vol.7]
  • RG Veda [@ vol.4]
  • Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRONiCLE [@ vol.4]
  • Cardcaptor Sakura [@ vol.2]
  • CCS: Master of the Clow [@ vol.2]
  • Chobits [complete!]
  • Hikaru no Go [complete!]
  • Naruto [@ ch.322]
  • Black Cat [@ ch.51]
  • Prince of Tennis [@ vol.2]
6. I have so much homework to do tonight. *Dies*
